THE FITTING STANDARD
Fitter Verification Standard
What we check, what a verification badge means and its important limitations.
1. Purpose
Verification is designed to improve transparency and reduce obvious misrepresentation. It is a proportionate documentary and experience review, not a guarantee, accreditation of every technical skill or continuous supervision.
2. Core checks
Before approval we normally check identity, trading contact details, service area, relevant experience, portfolio evidence and current public-liability insurance. Where claimed or required, we may check references, manufacturer training, CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, DBS or other role-relevant evidence.
3. Skill categories
Skills are approved only where supported by relevant experience or evidence. Specialist categories include bay systems, motorisation, high-level work, commercial installation, curtain dressing, shutters and repair or programming.
4. Badge meaning
Verified means specified checks were completed on a stated date using the information reasonably available. It does not guarantee workmanship, solvency, safety, availability, pricing or future conduct and does not replace customer due diligence or a written contract.
5. Renewal and monitoring
Insurance and time-limited credentials must be renewed before expiry. Fitters must report material changes. We may conduct sample rechecks, investigate complaints and suspend a badge while concerns are assessed.
6. Fair decisions
Applicants will be told when material information is missing or approval is declined, unless disclosure would create a security or legal risk. They may provide corrections or request one internal review. Admission criteria must be relevant, proportionate and applied consistently.
